A resume is an imperative part in job hunting. A professional and well written resume always enforce an employer in contacting the candidate for interview. A resume doesn’t require any creative input; it’s a kind of technical writing, where, a person needs to be accurate and concise. You need to spend quality time before writing a resume. Carefully read the job description and start drafting. Write the skills and responsibilities which are necessary to be included in the resume as per requirement.
A resume for the post of technician, engineer and IT jobs should be very specific. It should reveal the person’s potential in the field. In today’s competitive market, everything needs to be very perfect and professional in job search. Here are some tips which I found to be considered necessarily for technical resume writing:
Length:
It is very important factor to consider while resume writing as many people pack their resume with professional history. Resume is all about yourself but it doesn’t mean that you have to make look like an autobiography. You need to add those skills and duties which are related to the required position and help the employer to know your potential in the realm. A lengthy resume loses reader’s attention.
Grammar and Typos:
It is another important feature in technician resume writing. A technically skilled person sometimes, fails in getting his/her dream job because of grammatical and typing errors in the resume. Check your resume 2- 3 times. Read it loudly to check grammatical error before submitting.
Format:
Formatting of a resume doesn’t mean that you need to make it attractive. It should be reader friendly. Give proper spacing. Use font that is easily readable and try to use bullets for highlighting the technical skills, responsibilities, education and achievement. This will facilitate the reader in portraying your abilities and proficiency in the field.
Accuracy:
Always give accurate and proper information in the resume. For technician resume writing, it is very important to be precise with the technical skills. Do not add those technical skills in which you are not expert. It may affect your interview session. Merely adding information to make the resume strong will influence your growing career.
Extra Section:
Some candidates add sections like personal details. In such section, you need to be very careful. Avoid adding religion, race, etc. Be apposite in writing hobbies. Do not add charts and graph showing your progression in the field.
