Now that you have your feet wet, it's time to jump in. Create strong sections in your CV by using the concepts presented in Part 2. With the additional sections mentioned in this chapter, your CV is likely to run several pages, all of which should have the following information:

  • Curriculum vitae is the term used in academic and scientific communities for version
  • CVs are usually longer than two pages (and may be as long as 20 pages) and frequently don't include a Job Objective section.
  • You can use either a chronological, functional, achievement, chronological hybrid, or functional hybrid format, but keep it conservative in presentation and language for most uses.
  • A large part of your CV should be laundry-list sections such as Publications, Awards and Honors, and Presentations.
  • Be sure to number all pages and include "Continued" at the bottom of all but the last page.
