A sales resume should be appealing one. It doesn’t mean that you need to exaggerate the sentences or you have to use some stylist font in your resume. A sales resume is a bit different from other resumes. Basically, in other resume a candidate highlights his/her skills and responsibilities in the job. But here in sales resume a person has to show his/her potential in the job as how his/her skills increased the sales or productivity of the previous company. In short, it has to tell the reader about the results you have given to the company by handling myriad responsibilities.
Like other resumes, start your resume from name, city, address, contact number and e-mail address. Then comes the objective-which is a very important point of the resume. As you are applying for the sales job, you should know how to grab or persuade a person to meet the target. In the same way write a very strong and concise statement for the objective. An objective statement should reveal that you are a perfect candidate for the company. Just go through the points mentioned for the required candidate in the job. Write your skills and how your talent will help to meet the company’s goal. This statement should be convincing to attract the reader’s attention.
Next point for the resume is “Area of Expertise” or “Summary of Qualification”. Different people give different names to this heading. In this part of resume, you have to mention the skills and qualities. It tells the specific interest of the candidate in the job which makes him/her unique from other applicants. Use bullets for highlighting this section. It should be well written. Always avoid focusing on the skills which do not match the job profile. Sometimes, people add such skills because they want to tell the employer that they have vast areas of proficiency. But it can lose the employers’ interest and can knock down the resume.
Next you will add the experience and responsibilities of your present and previous job. This is the easiest section of resume. You can name it “Professional Experience”, “Career Progression”, “Professional History” etc. Always start from the present job. Don’t stuff it with the details of your roles and responsibilities. Only give the summary of your experiences and roles.
After writing your professional history, write about your education. Write your degree, diploma, certification or trainings in this section of educational qualification. Mention the name of University and year in which you have passed out. All the information in this section should be accurate.
Another section of resume is awards and achievements. This section will show your potential in the field. Emphasize on the achievements and honors you received in the job. It will be very favorable for a candidate in the enrollment.
At last you can add your personal details that are hobby, nationality, and spoken language. Proofread the resume for any grammatical mistake or typos. Print it on a good quality of paper.
Build your resume in the same way as a company advertises its product or service. A resume advertising the skills and abilities of a person will persuade a reader to call you on the interview. If you will follow the given steps while writing a resume, no body can stop you from getting an interview call.
